www.wcfcourier.com TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2006 A6 THE COURIER CEDAR VALLEY Metro Deaths Death Notices Lyman "Joe" Hansen (1926-2006) WATERLOO Lyman "Joe" Hansen, 79, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Allenmore Hospital, Tacoma, Wash, of cancer. He was born April 4, 1926, in Waterloo, son of Neils and Josephine Miller Hansen. He married Aileen Maust in March 1946 in Waterloo. She died in March 1989.

He married Helen Shelmadine of Lakewood, Wash, in March 1995. Mr. Hansen served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as justice of the peace in Washburn for six years and was mayor of Harpers Ferry for four years.

He was employed by John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1985 Lyman Hansen as divisional superintendent. He served as a captain Lyman Hansen in the Civil Air Patrol in Washington; received his private pilot's license in 1995; and was a volunteer at McChord Air Force Base Museum in Washington, restoring World War II airplanes. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Michael (Kathleen) of Waterloo and Scott (Lori) of Eugene, Ore; three daughters, Christine (Dick) Ridenour of Bend, Jennifer (Larry) McWilliams of Portland, Ore, and Ann (Dean) Sandifer of Lake Oswego, Ore; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Maynard (Lois) of Waterloo, Wayne (Jan) of Golden, Colo, and Tim (Mary) of Anchorage, Alaska; and a sister, Pat Fleming of Bloomfield, N.M. Services: were Jan. 22 at Christ Lutheran Church, with burial in Mountain View Memorial Park, both in Lakewood.

Earl C. Drew (1921-2006) WATERLOO Earl Clyde Drew, 84, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 5, at Allen Hospital emergency room following a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Janesville, son of Clyde H. and Adele Gielau Drew. He married Marva Smith on Oct. 12, 1947.

She died in January 1995. Mr. Drew graduated from Janesville High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He worked at Rath Packing Co.

for 29 years, retiring in 1983. Survivors include: two sons, Earl "Skip" C. II and Daryl D. (Amy), both of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Linda (Stan) Hoffman of Osborn, Mo, and Carolyn Earl Drew Drew of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by: two sisters, Dorothy Jerde and Phyllis Burske.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service. The casket will be closed at the church.

Trewin, 83, of rural Waucoma, died at home Sunday, Feb. 5. She was born July 24, 1922, in New Hampton, daughter of George and Mary Hartson Tubbs. On Sept. 11,1941, she married Merle H.

Trewin at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mrs. Trewin received her education in the Alpha Schools. She assisted her husband for many years on their farm in Chickasaw County. Survivors include: her husband; three sons, Gerald "Jake" of rural Waucoma, Harlan (Denise) of Fort Smith, Ark, and James (Cheryl) of Bend, Ore; Lucille Trewin seven grandchildren and four great Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Martha Mary; a brother, Glen Tubbs; and two sisters, Vivian Kist and Eileen Weidemann.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United I Methodist Church, Alpha, with burial in Alpha Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Hal C.

Ransom (1918-2006) NASHUA Hal C. Ransom, 87, of Nashua, died at home Saturday, Feb. 4. He was born May 5, 1918, in Richland Township, Chickasaw County, son of Harry C. and Kitty Cory Ransom.

He married Lynn J. Ableiter in 1940. She died May 1, 1995. He later married Barbara Bayne of Houston, Texas. Mr.

Ransom graduated from Nashua High School in 1933; attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa State graduated from the Senior Massachusetts Institute of his own business, Ransom University in Ames and Executive Program at Technology. He started Seed Corn, which he later gave to his older brothers. He then began his 40-year career with Campbell's Soup Co, retiring in 1983 as vice president. Survivors include: his wife; three sons: Hal Jack (Anne) of Edina, Minn, Michael (Nanette) of Trinity Center, Calif, and Greg (Nu Quynh) of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Renee Ransom of Houston; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Susan Hanright of Nashua. Preceded in death by: a son, Scott Patrick; three brothers, Lowell, Cale and Paul; and three sisters, Caroline Ransom, Gladys Strike and Kathleen Allen.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at the Little Brown Church, with inurnment in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Nashua. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the services. Mr. Moriarty was born in Yakima, Wash, on Jan. 21, 1949, to Robert L. Moriarty and the late Mary Bennett Moriarty. He is also preceded in death by first wife, Cynthia Moriarty, and a daughter, Kristen A.
